On a quiet Tuesday in the Upper East Region, a fire took the boys' dormitory at Paga Senior High School. Four hundred and eighty boys lost everything they owned in a single evening. Uniforms, textbooks, mattresses, the photograph of a mother who lives a long bus ride away.
Alumni saw the appeal go up the same week. Some gave the price of a lunch. Some gave the price of a bus home. The campaign closed in six weeks, the dorm reopened on a Saturday in late April, and every transaction was visible on the project's public ledger.
